Think About the Number of Orders In the Queue Before You Order from a Fiverr Seller

There will be people ahead of you in the queue. Image: ThinkStock

You want to order from a Fiverr seller. One of the first things you possibly check is the number of orders in the queue. It looks low, so you think that ordering your 20 gig order is perfectly fine.
There are many buyers who will ignore a request to contact a Fiverr seller before ordering in bulk. Some just don’t consider a large number of gigs being a problem.

It’s really important to think about the number of orders in the queue before you order. Don’t just look at the number on the page. It’s worth contacting the seller. That lone number on the page doesn’t tell you everything.

Those Orders Could Be Bulk

One limitation is that it doesn’t show the size of the orders placed. Those who have bought multiples or gig extras within one order will only appear as one order. A Fiverr seller could just show five orders in his queue, but each of those has 20 individual gigs within the order.

That’s 100 orders!

Yes, that’s excessive but it is certainly possible. Do you really want to add your 20 to that queue? Not only is the seller under pressure, but there is the risk of not getting the quality that you want.

Sellers Like to Split Out Their Delivery Times

If you want to place a large order, the seller might want to space it out. I know if someone wants to place 10 articles with me, I ask that the orders are placed in two sets of five over the course of two days.

There is a major limitation with Fiverr. Bulk orders in the real world would take longer to complete. In Fiverr land, sellers are expected to deliver bulk orders within the same time frame.

If five buyers came a long and ordered 20 gigs at a time, that would be 100 orders that the Fiverr seller has to deliver within that time. The number of orders in the queue isn’t telling you that!

This Will Not Be the Seller’s Only Job

Bear in mind that Fiverr sellers work other places. Some people are still at school, while others work full-time and do Fiverr on the side. Some Fiverr sellers work on other sites as well and need to so they can pay the bills.

Even if the number of orders in the queue looks low, the sellers may have restrictions in place on number of orders at a time. It’s always important to contact and ask about this.

Getting Ahead in the Queue

If you don’t want to wait, there are usually ways of getting in front of the queue. Most sellers will have an extra fast option, which you can order and automatically jump ahead.

If the seller doesn’t have this option—some sellers won’t want to put it up due to other limitations—then you can contact him. Find out how much it will cost to jump ahead. Never expect to get it for free!

Now you know about the limitations on the number of orders in the queue, it’s time to contact your seller. Find out how many orders he can handle at once and whether you need to order over different time periods. This will really help to get the work that you deserve.

Fiverr Tips to Get More Orders

If you’re struggling to get orders on Fiverr at the moment, you won’t be the only one. The number of orders I receive per day has decreased, so I’m looking into ways to get more orders.

Don't just sit in frustration.
This happens every now and then. Part of it will be the summer months, but some of it is also to do with the new star rating system. Fiverr sellers are annoyed and Fiverr buyers are just confused. People are watching and waiting to see just how much damage it is going to do.

Whenever orders drop, I up my marketing. And I suggest you do too to get more orders. Here are my Fiverr tips to get more orders.

Promote Your Fiverr Gig on Social Media

Spend some time sharing your gig on social media. You could share it with your friends, or find groups for those looking for people within your industry. It’s also worth sharing it on your Twitter feed and Facebook page.

Some people have Twitter and Facebook feeds set up just for their Fiverr gigs. I don’t do that as I already manage two of both, but that’s not to say you shouldn’t. Work out what works best for your marketing.

When you promote your Fiverr gigs on social media, use the hashtag #Fiverr. People often use that to search for gigs on the site. You could also tag Fiverr into your post and they may share it with others to improve your reach.

Improve Your Gig Description and Tags

Now is the time to make some changes to your gig descriptions and tags. It could be these that are putting people off from buying, or making it difficult for them to find you!

Spend some time sprucing up the copy and make your gig sound amazing for people. Something that they must have right now. If you create that sense of urgency, they’re more likely to buy right at this moment in time.

Not sure what to do about your gig descriptions, I offer Fiverr tips to help with just that. Please check out my gig offering help to improve Fiverr gigs.

Think About New Gigs to Sell

It could be that your area is over saturated now. It’s time to start looking at other gig ideas, and think about other things that you can offer.

Maybe you’re creative and want to start doing something with that on the site. Maybe you have a chalkboard that you can put to some use for signs. Take a look around the site to see the type of things that are selling, and then get creative with your own Fiverr gig ideas.

Use the Forum More

Get onto the Fiverr forum and use it to your advantage. First of all, there’s a section for promoting your Fiverr gigs. Add in a thread and bump it up now and then to make sure people see it.

Second of all, just answering questions and starting discussions will get yourself noticed more. If you’re helpful, people could come by and buy your gig just as a thank you. If you start interesting discussions, they will come along to check out your gigs to see if they need your services.

It’s not always the case that people don’t want to buy. It’s often the case that they just don’t know you exist.

While you have some downtime, put the above Fiverr tips into use. It’s time to get more orders on the site, but only you can improve the chances of that happening.

Getting Back to Your Fiverr Work After a Vacation

Image from Pixabay

Like many people, I’m went on holiday last month. I’m going on another one (well, I say holiday but it’s volunteering at a camp) next month.

It’s great to have a break from work, even running my own business, but it can be so hard getting back into the swing of things. Are you struggling to get back into your Fiverr work after your vacation? Well, here are a few tips to help.

Give Yourself an Extra Couple of Day

When I come back from vacation, I have an extra couple of days to get ready to get back to work. Most of the time, I’m coming back on a Saturday, so have until the Monday anyway (Sunday is always a day off unless it’s a 24-hour rush order). But even if I come back on a different day, I’ll have at least one day before getting back to work.

That one day will give you time to recover, especially if you’re travel over time differences. The time at home will also help you get out of the holiday mentality and into day off mentality. You know the next day is time to get back to work.

Clear Out Your Fiverr Messages

The first thing I do when I return is go through all the Fiverr messages I received while away. You should do the same. You never know where your next amazing project is going to come from.

Archive the ones that you don’t need to reply to, and reply to the ones that you do. If there are some that you can reply to but don’t expect to hear back, archive them to clear out your inbox. I only keep messages in my inbox from buyers who are likely to reply or those I’m working on long-term projects with.

Get Yourself Back in Work Mode

Do whatever you need to do to get back into work mode.

I need my computer at a desk to be able to work at the start of the day. Later on it can move to the couch or into the dining room, but the start it must be at the desk. I also get a shower and get dressed so I feel like I’m at the office.

Find a method that works for you. Once you get into work mode, it is much harder to fall back into holiday mode.

Are you ready to get back into your Fiverr work after your holiday? Just think about the money coming in!

How do you get back into Fiverr work mode? Feel free to share your hints and tips below.

Hate the New Advanced Fiverr Review System? Let Your Voices Be Heard!

Do you hate the new Fiverr review system? This is the 5-star system, and if you read the forums you’ll see that it is causing some major agro with sellers and buyers alike.

You see, people don’t like rating things 5 stars all the time. It devalues the 5-star rating, but that is seriously going to affect sellers who have done well with a thumbs up/thumbs down system for the past up to four or five years.

So, do you hate the new system? It’s time you let your voice be heard. Here are a few things you can do.

Let the Fiverr Staff Know

It’s time to let the Fiverr staff know about your hatred. You can do this publicly and privately—and I really suggest doing both. Send a message to the support staff, and get in touch on the Facebook and Twitter pages. You can also tell the staff on the forums and on the blog post.

The more you speak up about it, the more people are going to hear you. One voice isn’t enough, but if enough Fiverr sellers and buyers let their hatred be known then Fiverr will eventually start listening.

Suspend Your Gigs

If you’re a Fiverr seller, make an effort to suspend your gigs. Of course, one person doing it isn’t enough. This is why there is a day on July 1 organized for sellers to get together and do this as one. I’d prefer it to be a week, but not many sellers are willing to do that.

One day may not sound like much, but if every seller suspended their gigs for that day it would send a very clear and honest message to the Powers That Be.

Those who are willing to, suspend your gig for a whole week and show Fiverr just what you think about the new star rating system.

Stop Buying Gigs

Fiverr buyers have much more power, and you can really affect the Fiverr staff. Why not go a day, week or even month without buying anything on the site? It may affect you at first, but you may find that all the best sellers disappear because they are fed up of their voices not being heard. Then where would you be?

Make it clear to the Fiverr staff that you support the sellers, and you don’t agree with this new rating system.

It’s time to do something about it. Fiverr just isn’t listening right now, despite so many people being against it. It’s time to make it clear that you hate this system every way that you can. If we all band together, we can let Fiverr know that we want the thumbs up/thumbs down back.

Fiverr 5-Star Rating System Review: The Good and Bad of the New “Advanced” Rating System

Fiverr recently unveiled its new “advanced” rating system. I put advanced in quotation marks, but I really don’t see it as that. This 5-star rating system could turn out to be one of the site’s worst changes ever.

It’s not that I hate change. While I don’t always like it, it really depends on the exact changes and the site/system. When Fiverr changed to version two, I didn’t mind it. It took a while to get use to it but I embraced it. I just can’t do the same with the new ratings system.

It’s Too Complicated Now

The new system is complicated. Buyers are asked to rate sellers out of 5 stars for three things: responsiveness, recommendation and satisfaction. There is then a place to leave comments.

It seems simple, but when you consider the original thumbs up and thumbs down system, it’s really not. Buyers have to think about how they want to rate their Fiverr sellers, and it can depend on the mood they are in on the day. Some don’t even want to rate with a thumbs up or down, so why would they want to think about stars?

More Fiverr Sellers Will Be Abused

I think the bit that really annoys me is the responsiveness part. Buyers could use this to abuse the sellers on the site. It is already happening with the thumbs up and down system, so it will certainly happen with this new one.

Fiverr sellers set their delivery times depending on situations. Mine are never less than 7 days because I have other places to write and a life. Most of the time, I keep my delivery times set to 10 days at least, and right now they’re at 20 days because I was on vacation. This new system can put pressure on sellers to deliver quicker.

For example, a buyer can come up and insist the work is done within a day, but not want to pay for the extra. If the seller doesn’t do as asked, the buyer can simply leave one-star reviews for the responsiveness and even the work done. If you look at the forum, it is already being abused in this way to get back at the seller.

It’s a Lot of Stress for $5

If someone was paying me $100 for my base gig, then I’d be happy to allow the 5-star rating system. In fact, I’d welcome it. However, as it is currently $5, it is a lot of stress for the sake of the money. In more cases, I’m going to cancel orders because a buyer seems shifty.

It’s already affecting my work. I’ve had some messages requesting me to take on jobs. In many cases I’ve turned them down because the new rating system is playing with my mind. I know plenty of sellers who have shut down their gigs because of it, and eventually Fiverr is going to lose money.

But It Works for eBay…

Yes, there are plenty of sites that operate with a 5-star system. eBay is likely where Fiverr got the idea from. However, I’m going to point out one thing: the buyers are also rated.

Now, yes, the buyers are rated with this new system, but the ratings mean nothing. The Fiverr buyer ratings do not show up on the profiles at all; only on the gig pages. This has been the problem all along with the rating system. This was something sellers wanted to change with the original thumbs up and thumbs down system. They didn’t want this complicated, open-to-abuse system.

What do you think about the new Fiverr “advanced” rating system? Share your thoughts on it below in the comments.
