When Should You Leave Negative Feedback on Fiverr?

Negative feedback is a scary thought for many sellers on Fiverr. But as a buyer you have a right to leave this, right?

Well, yes, but I want to ask buyers to really think about using that thumbs down button. Does your seller really deserve this? One thumbs down can really affect a seller’s ability to make money on the site. Is that something you really want to do?

Some of the times I suggest against leaving feedback is if:

·         You asked for more than the gig offered, and the seller stuck to his or her gig description
·         You were given something the gig detailed, but it was just not quite to your personal preference. This is the case with article writing (unless it is quality, which I’ll cover in a minute), logo design, graphic art and other similar gigs.
·         When the seller has modified the work for you, sometimes as a good-will gesture.

Of course, there are certain times that leaving negative feedback on Fiverr is more than expected. Here are some of the times that it is beneficial to leave your thumbs down.

When the Quality Is Just Shocking

There is a difference between personal preference and quality. Poor quality means that typos are everywhere, grammar is atrocious, and it just sounds like it has been spun (in the case of articles). Videos and graphics will have their own quality needs.

If it is just one typo in a 500 word article, I wouldn’t leave negative feedback on Fiverr for that. People are human and make mistakes. You also want to consider whether there is a difference between US and UK spelling, which could create the look of typos (but isn’t actually the case).

When the Fiverr Seller Hasn’t Delivered as Promised

Fiverr sellers state everything they will deliver in their gig description. It’s there to tell you what you can expect and when to not bother ordering.

If you’ve read through it and offered a job that meets the gig description, then you should expect a timely delivery. Remember to check out the gig deadlines for when you can expect the order by—you will also see a countdown appear on your gig.

When a seller doesn’t deliver as promised, you have every right to leave a negative vote. However, there are a few actions to take first:

·         Request a modification
·         Contact the seller to find out why the work was not as expected
·         Ask for a refund if the seller is not willing to make changes despite you having every right to.
Please note that a seller will not make changes where the limitations in the gig description have been met, or if you’re asking for more work without paying for extra. It’s not fair to expect a seller to ask for these.

If the seller doesn’t allow the refund and will still not deliver as promised, you have every right to leave negative feedback on Fiverr to warn others.

When It Is a Scam

There are scams on Fiverr. It’s important to do your research beforehand to avoid them, but you can’t catch them all. If you find that you are scammed, then do leave negative feedback. If you don’t need that $5, then I’d suggest keeping the gig just to warn others.

However, do note that just because you haven’t received everything you want does not mean that it is a scam. A scam is when someone has promised a product or service for the money you pay. So, if you’re promised a 400 word article on a given topic and you receive that, the seller has not scammed you. It may not be exactly as expected, but it is not a scam. You then need to determine whether you want to leave feedback due to poor quality, or request a modification. You could even get your money back.

There are a lot of people believing that the Facebook like and Twitter follower (and similar) gigs are scams. This depends on what has been promised in the gig. If the seller just promises a certain number of likes and nothing else and you receive them, it is not a scam. The likes may disappear afterwards, but you still received them. If the seller promised a certain number of real likes from certain countries, but you received likes from all over that disappear shortly afterwards (likely bots) then it is a scam.

The best thing to do is avoid all social media gigs that offer hundreds or thousands of likes. Most of them are bots, and they are against social media site rules. You could find your profiles banned.

Hopefully, you now have an idea of when to leave negative feedback on Fiverr. Think about the work that the seller has put into this, and if you don’t have anything nice to say (for personal taste) then consider not leaving feedback at all.

What You Need to Do Before Hiring Fiverr Website Designers and Developers

Would you like to find someone on Fiverr for your website development or design? This is a great website if you’re just starting out or need something tweaking.

There are a lot of great Fiverr website designers and developers and the rates are reasonable. However, you need to find someone who is trustworthy and able to do the job you need. You also need to make sure they will work to your limitations and specifications.

Here are a few steps to take before hiring any website designer or website developer on Fiverr.

Find One Who Can Work in Your Format

Do you have a WordPress website that you need tweaking? Maybe your website was fully coded by hand and now you need someone to fix something.

You need to find someone on Fiverr who is able to handle your website needs. If they say that they can only handle WordPress and you use Blogger, don’t expect them to instantly help you. If they say that they manually code everything, message them to find out what that means if you are confused.

When it comes to designers, you will need the source files to be able to get the development completed. Make sure this is available.

Check Out the Fiverr Feedback

Go through the feedback of any Fiverr website designer or developer that you find. This will help you find someone who is trustworthy and capable of doing your job to an excellent standard.

Of course, there are downsides to this feedback system. You can find out more about that right here.

Ask to See Some Samples from the Fiverr Website Designer or Developer

There is nothing wrong with asking to see previous work. This could be images to see the type of design work or the look and workability of the full website. It depends on your needs from the website designer or website developer on Fiverr.

If the person isn’t willing to share samples, it may simply be better to move onto another seller. If something seems too good to be true or you aren’t sure about the quality of work, spend  your money elsewhere.

Ask for Recommendations on the Fiverr Forum

The Fiverr forum is now open to all and is a great place to ask for recommendations. You could set up a gig for people to recommend a website designer that they’ve tried or a website developer that they know does good work.

Watch out for this idea. You will get a lot of gig suggestions from Fiverr sellers who work within this area. Make it clear on the posting that you want to hear from people who have tried out the different sellers—you don’t want to get a lot of links from people who do website design or development on Fiverr.

Message the Fiverr Website Designer or Developer

Talk to any Fiverr seller before you make a purchase. This will help you explain your needs and make sure you find the right person on the website. It also helps you find out the cost for all the work that you need doing.

Don’t expect everything for $5. Think about the amount of time and skill it takes to do the work. A good website designer or website developer on Fiverr is not going to do three or four hours on your website for $5.

Backup Your Website

Always, always, always create a backup of your website. Why do you need to do this? Well, you never know what the Fiverr seller will do. The last thing you want is to find out that your whole website has been destroyed.

At least with a backup, you can revert back to the original to fix issues if they occur.

Do you have any other tips on finding a good Fiverr website designer or developer? Remember to take some time. Don’t rush into the first seller you find!

How to Hire a Photographer on Fiverr.com

There are so many types of jobs you may need doing. I once needed a photographer, since that’s one side that—even with a camera phone—I can’t do very well.

It went through a long process to find the perfect photographer on Fiverr.com and I want to share my tips here.

Browse the Categories

Look through the right categories. There is a search function, so you can keep it broad by searching for a photographer on the website or you can get a little narrower. I tend to start with narrow terms, such as landscape photographer or flower photographer. If I can’t find anything with those terms, I’ll make them broader.

Don’t look to hire someone who doesn’t do photography. Graphic art and photography are not the same thing!

Look Through the Fiverr Feedback

Take some time to browse through the feedback on the Fiverr users. You want to know whether they deliver on time, are trustworthy, deliver according to their gig description and will work with your needs.

Check the negative feedback. It’s not always the Fiverr seller’s fault! There are times that buyers expect much more but are unwilling to pay it.

Read the Fiverr Gig Description and Extras

Check the gig description to make sure the Fiverr photographer can handle the type of topic you need. Most will state clearly what they are willing and are not willing to do for the $5.

There could be an option for extras if you have a larger project. Check out the extras and be willing to pay them. Sellers don’t want to deal with buyers who want the world for $5.

Check the Samples from the Photographer on Fiverr.com

There is something called a Live Portfolio. These are samples of the work that the seller has done for previous Fiverr buyers and are good ways to check the quality of the work.

If the Live Portfolio isn’t active, you can also ask to see samples of the work. I highly recommend this when it comes to artistic Fiverr gigs. It’s really important to make sure the quality of work is high and suitable for your needs.

Contact the Fiverr Photographer

I suggest contacting the Fiverr seller before ordering the gig, especially if you have a very detailed order that needs fulfilling. This will help you choose someone who is more than capable of doing the gig.

If you are unsure about anything in the Fiverr gig description, contact the seller to clarify. Sellers prefer the communication beforehand to make sure they can do the work and understand all your needs.

Don’t just randomly pick a Fiverr user to do your work. It takes time and patience to choose the perfect photographer on Fiverr.com for your needs. That time will give you the best value for your money.

The Fiverr Feedback System: Can You Trust the Positive and Negative Feedback?

There has been a major change in the Fiverr feedback system lately. Those who receive negative feedback can have them removed through a mutual cancellation within 14 days of completion. What does that mean?

The feedback on Fiverr is no longer necessarily true!

There have been many cases of Top Rated Sellers having their negative feedback removed because they want to keep the customers coming in. The problem is they’re not doing it legitimately. Just check out this post from one of the Fiverr writers about his experience with Top Rated Sellers lying on their page and getting their negative feedback removed.

Leaving Negative Feedback

I’ve written in the past about thinking before you leave a negative remark. I did this after receiving unfair negative feedback – it was something about an order that I cancelled before working on and the buyer was annoyed that he had to pay more because he wanted more than my base gig.

I really believe that buyers need to think before they click the thumbs down button. Did the seller do everything stated in the gig description? If so, then is it legitimate to leave a thumbs down?

This is when negative feedback on Fiverr is okay (in my book). If the Fiverr seller didn’t do as stated or has misled buyers, feel free to leave that negative. But, if you’re going to leave the negative then keep it up there! If you opt for the mutual cancellation, how are you going to warn others about your experience?

Can You Trust the Fiverr Feedback System?

Not anymore.

There are users who are having negative feedback removed by a quick mutual cancellation. The system definitely has its flaws.

You also need to look more into the thumbs down – it’s not always fair and legitimate.

As a Fiverr buyer, you need to do more than checking the feedback. Look into the comments left in detail and check the gig description. You should also send the Fiverr seller a message about their gig and ask all the questions that you have.

If you’re really unsure, do a quick Google search. There are some who will have complaints on other peoples’ blogs.

What Can You Do to Help the Feedback on Fiverr?

If you have a great experience with a seller, share that with the community. You can praise them on the Fiverr forums or leave them feedback on their gig. Fiverr sellers love that you leave feedback on their gigs to say it was a job well done.

But what if you have a negative experience?

Determine why the experience was negative first. Did you expect more from the seller but aren’t willing to pay the extra? That’s not fair on the person doing the work for you. If the Fiverr seller did everything he said he would do in the gig, then you either need to accept the work or buy another gig for the extra work.

What if the seller doesn’t do everything in the gig and is demanding more? You have every right to:

1.       Ask for a full refund and go elsewhere
2.       Complete the job and give negative feedback

If you do give negative feedback, do it in detail and share your thoughts. If the money isn’t something that worries you, don’t give into the seller’s requests to cancel. You have every right to keep the negative feedback there and share your experience. That’s what it’s there for anyway.

But, please make sure your negative is fair and justified. If you’re leaving it for the sake of it or didn’t get everything you wanted when you knew you wouldn’t get it in the first place, that’s not fair on the person who did the hard work for you. They can have it removed – and rightly so.

The Fiverr feedback system definitely has its flaws. Talk to the seller before you buy and make sure you are happy with spending the money.
