Micro job
sites seem to be the current thing. There are many of them including Fiverr,
Minimart Jobs and Fivesquids.
But how have
they become so popular with buyers and sellers?
It’s quite
simple when you think about it – Money!
Money is a
major factor for both buyers and sellers. Here’s how:
Buyers Buy Things for Cheap
People don’t
have the money to spend on lots. They want to gain everything they need,
whether personal or business, for cheap.
With micro
jobs sites like Fiverr, it’s possible to spend as little as $5.
Of course,
there is the saying “you get what you pay for” and that does happen on the
site. Fiverr buyers regularly complain that they didn’t get exactly what they
wanted – but they did get something worth $5!
Seller Get to Make Money Online
Making money
online is a major search term with Google. People are struggling for cash and
they want to earn a quick buck. That is made easier with Fiverr and other micro
job sites.
Sellers can
offer their skills for as little as $5.
But how do
they make money? They get to up-sell.
There are
gig extras on Fiverr once people are Level 1 and above. They can charge up to
$100, depending on their level, for their extras and up-sell in the original
gig to encourage people to buy them.
For example,
I offer up to 400 words for $5. If you want keyword research doing, I’ll do it
for an extra $20.
I also offer
a transcription service for up to 10 minutes for $5. If you want to turn that
transcription into an article, I’ll do it as one of my gig extras.
Other micro
jobs sites, like Minimart Jobs, offers the ability to set a larger base price
for gigs and you can charge up to $250 per gig. This opens the chance to make
more money but I’m not sure whether there are people buying those jobs.
Sellers Offer Something that Wouldn’t
Usually Make Money
If you look
at the majority of the jobs on Fiverr and other micro job websites, you’ll find
that they’re not usually things that make money in stores.
A lot of the
gigs are quirky ones, like writing messages on hands or doing a dance.
The micro
job sites have opened the opportunity for sellers to make money from their
skills. Skills that they wouldn’t usually be able to use anywhere else to make
money.
Yes, people
really do buy these gigs! Some are great marketing opportunities or gifts for
friends.
The Turnaround
As well as
money, people want things quick. They may want SEO completed on their website
within a week or a new article or video within 24 hours. These micro job sites
offer that benefit.
There are
people willing to do things within 24 hours – I offer an extra fast gig extra
so people pay more for the quicker turnaround.
However, I
always believe in quality. While you may want something within a few days, you
need to make sure it is worth your money. If the quality is lacking because of
the fast turnaround, you won’t be able to use the product in the end.
The World Is Moving Online
Finally, the
world is moving to incorporate the internet much more. Just 10 years ago, blogs
were just something people wrote for fun! It’s only been the last few years
that they’ve been a source of making money.
These sites
are online and offer jobs that can be sent online. They’re incorporating the
internet that some other companies can’t.
They make it
possible for people all over the world to order from anywhere in the world,
without worrying about the cost of shipping. Yes, there are some items that
need to be shipped but most are all online and gained through downloads.
Still
wondering why micro job sites are so popular? Take a look through the type of
gigs on offer and the feedback sellers receive. Check out the reviews online –
yes, there are bad ones but there are also good ones – and see why sellers and
buyers use the sites.
Money is a
major factor but not the only one!
