Fiverr Tips to Get More Orders

If you’re struggling to get orders on Fiverr at the moment, you won’t be the only one. The number of orders I receive per day has decreased, so I’m looking into ways to get more orders.

Don't just sit in frustration.
This happens every now and then. Part of it will be the summer months, but some of it is also to do with the new star rating system. Fiverr sellers are annoyed and Fiverr buyers are just confused. People are watching and waiting to see just how much damage it is going to do.

Whenever orders drop, I up my marketing. And I suggest you do too to get more orders. Here are my Fiverr tips to get more orders.

Promote Your Fiverr Gig on Social Media

Spend some time sharing your gig on social media. You could share it with your friends, or find groups for those looking for people within your industry. It’s also worth sharing it on your Twitter feed and Facebook page.

Some people have Twitter and Facebook feeds set up just for their Fiverr gigs. I don’t do that as I already manage two of both, but that’s not to say you shouldn’t. Work out what works best for your marketing.

When you promote your Fiverr gigs on social media, use the hashtag #Fiverr. People often use that to search for gigs on the site. You could also tag Fiverr into your post and they may share it with others to improve your reach.

Improve Your Gig Description and Tags

Now is the time to make some changes to your gig descriptions and tags. It could be these that are putting people off from buying, or making it difficult for them to find you!

Spend some time sprucing up the copy and make your gig sound amazing for people. Something that they must have right now. If you create that sense of urgency, they’re more likely to buy right at this moment in time.

Not sure what to do about your gig descriptions, I offer Fiverr tips to help with just that. Please check out my gig offering help to improve Fiverr gigs.

Think About New Gigs to Sell

It could be that your area is over saturated now. It’s time to start looking at other gig ideas, and think about other things that you can offer.

Maybe you’re creative and want to start doing something with that on the site. Maybe you have a chalkboard that you can put to some use for signs. Take a look around the site to see the type of things that are selling, and then get creative with your own Fiverr gig ideas.

Use the Forum More

Get onto the Fiverr forum and use it to your advantage. First of all, there’s a section for promoting your Fiverr gigs. Add in a thread and bump it up now and then to make sure people see it.

Second of all, just answering questions and starting discussions will get yourself noticed more. If you’re helpful, people could come by and buy your gig just as a thank you. If you start interesting discussions, they will come along to check out your gigs to see if they need your services.

It’s not always the case that people don’t want to buy. It’s often the case that they just don’t know you exist.

While you have some downtime, put the above Fiverr tips into use. It’s time to get more orders on the site, but only you can improve the chances of that happening.

Is It Time to Set Up Your Own Fiverr Business

Could it be the perfect time to set up your own Fiverr business? Plenty of people are using the site to make money online. Some make a full-time living, while most others just make a nice side income to afford their luxuries.

Before you start, you need to make sure you have the right mindset for this type of work. It certainly isn’t as easy as many people will have you believe.

Here are four signs it’s time to set up  your own Fiverr business.

You Want and Can Be Your Own Boss

Do you want to be your own boss? This sounds great at first, but that means motivating yourself, giving yourself orders and running the operations of the business.

Not everyone has the skills to do this. Some people prefer to have someone else give them instructions for the day. Some prefer to have that stable income that comes from employment.

There’s a Market for Your Skill

Look through the list of gigs already available on Fiverr. Look through the different categories and search for keywords that like to your particular skill. Is there a market for that?

Fiverr is so old now that there are millions of gigs. Unfortunately that can mean no room for you. That doesn’t mean it isn’t time to set up your own business. Just maybe not on Fiverr.

You could make money doing a lot of fun and interesting things through Fiverr. Think about the quirky things you can do for $5.

There Is Time in Your Day

Do you even have the time for a Fiverr business? While you can set your own delivery times up to a maximum of 29 days, you still need time to work on each gig as they come through and answer the messages. Not everyone has the time for this.

Think about all your other commitments. Think about your current job, if you have one, and your family/social life. If you wonder where you’d fit in your projects, setting up your Fiverr business may not be the right thing right now.

You’re Ready to Handle Your Finances

You have to deal with all your own finances. You’ll need to know about the expenses you can deduct from your pay, and filling out all the paperwork for taxes.

Are you ready to do something like that? Not everyone wants to bother with all that, when their employer deals with the majority of it on a daily basis.

You don’t get any help from Fiverr when it comes to your finances. The company just puts the money you make into your account, and then you withdraw it.

Is it time to set up your own Fiverr business? For some, it certainly is. For others, you may want to wait until you have more time on your hands. It’s a personal choice.

When did you decide it was time to set up your own Fiverr business? Are you still looking for signs that it might be time? Share your stories in the comments below.

What to Do When Your Fiverr Gigs Aren’t Selling

Fiverr sales have been in a slump for many people lately, if you check the forums. It seems like everyone has seen a slow April compared to January, February and March this year.

Slow times of the year are normal in freelancing. It’s why I don’t put all my eggs into one basket. When my Fiverr gigs aren’t selling, something elsewhere usually is.

But what if you don’t have anything but your Fiverr gigs? And what if you want the sales to pick up in case somewhere else slumps? Is there anything you can do when your Fiverr gigs aren’t selling?

Well, yes there is. Here are a few tips when you have a slow week or month on Fiverr.com.

Rework Your Fiverr Gigs

Your gig sales may have slowed because of the competition on the site. There are now almost four million gigs, so there is a lot of competition in every single category. You need to put yourself back up at the top, which means doing a little rework on your gig.

Check your tags, look over your gig description and even record a new video to add into your gig. If you don’t yet have a video, record one. That has been proven to improve sales by 200%, according to the site stats.

Not sure about changes you can make? I offer a gig to help you. I’ll look over your Fiverr gig and create a fully comprehensive report detailing where you can improve and some suggestions to help get you started. I also offer marketing tips if you need them.

Create a New Gig

Get your creative juices flowing. While you have some quiet time, think about new Fiverr gigs that you can place on the site.

But what can you do? You’re already doing everything you love!

Think about some of the quirky, fun and innovative gigs. You could write a message on a funny sign or offer your skills as a speaker over a video. Need inspiration? Take a look at the different types of gigs around and see if you can do something similar. Don’t copy others, but come up with your own twist on their ideas.

Creating a new gig not only takes up some time, but you will give yourself another method of revenue through the website.

Get Marketing Your Fiverr Gig

When your Fiverr gigs aren’t selling, it could be a sign that you need to do more marketing. Fiverr isn’t going to do all the work for you. It’s important to get yourself out there, and share your gig with the world.

There are lots of ways that you can market. Social media is the most common, but what about starting your own blog? You could even have a website dedicated to attracting people to your gig and linking straight back to your Fiverr profile.

Look Out for Other Opportunities

Fiverr isn’t the only place online that you can sell your services or products. There are many others that don’t take the huge 20% cut.

Even if you’re not bothered about the 20% commission, just finding somewhere else will really help with the income when your Fiverr gigs aren’t selling. It’s that mindset of not putting all your eggs into one basket, like I mentioned earlier.

There are some Fiverr copycat websites, like Fourerr and Fivesquid, or you could take to Etsy, Elance and Guru to sell your products and services. Another option is to sell through your own website if you’re up for creating that and taking more control over full-scale marketing and managing payments.

Don’t feel like you have to sit and twiddle your thumbs when your Fiverr gigs aren’t selling. There are plenty of other things to do to help improve your income.

What do you do when your Fiverr gigs aren’t selling? Share your own tips or discuss your ideas and get your income back to the level you want and need it to be.

Going on Vacation: Suspend or Lengthen Your Fiverr Gigs?

You’re going on vacation, but what do you do about your Fiverr gigs? I’ve not tried the vacation mode yet, but have heard that it is really buggy. The options really are to suspend your Fiverr gigs or lengthen the delivery time.

But which one is best?

Really it depends on a few factors. I tend of lengthen my delivery times, but have suspended my Fiverr gigs in the past. Here are a few things to consider.

The Length of Your Vacation

If you’re taking longer than two weeks off, I suggest suspending the gigs. While you can lengthen your delivery date to a maximum of 29 days, people will expect you to get in touch in a timely manner. There’s also the chance of multiple people ordering every day.

Do you really want to end up with hundreds of orders to complete within the first two weeks of your return?

I’ve had the situation where I’ve lengthened my delivery to 20 days to cover the week and half that I was taking off. By the time I got back, I had 44 orders to get through. It was a lot to complete during that first week considering Fiverr is a part time gig. I couldn’t reduce the delivery time like I wanted to, and that continued for a few weeks until I finally caught up.

If you’re just taking a couple of days off, it’s often worth just lengthening the delivery time instead of suspending your orders. You’re not as likely to end up with such a large amount of orders.

If you’re away for longer than a month, you need to suspend your gigs. There is no option to extend the delivery dates longer than 29 days.

Do You Have Internet Access?

If you have constant internet access while you’re away, lengthening the delivery time is a good option. You can show that you’re still in busy and answer messages, so you run less risk of losing business.

However, do you really want to be attached to your phone while away?

I tend to put a message on my profile to warn everyone that I’m away for X number of days or weeks. I’ll answer messages at the start/end of the day and that’s it, so I can still enjoy my vacations. If I’m only away for a day or two, I won’t bother and just use my phone when I’m waiting for something or have a few spare minutes.

If you have your computer you may be able to complete a few orders. I did that a few years ago when I took some time off for Christmas. I took my laptop to my parents and got through a couple of orders on the evenings when there was nothing else to do or because I couldn’t sleep.

The Risk of Removal from Search Results

When you suspend your gigs, they will be removed from the search results. That’s understandable and expected.

The risk is when you activate your gigs again. Some people have found it takes them ages to get back into the search results. Others have found the opposite and that they go straight back in where they used to be.

I wouldn’t use this as a reason not to suspend, especially if you’re away for longer than a month.

Why You’re Not Getting Sales on Fiverr

There is a common question in the Fiverr Forums: Why am I not getting any sales?

It’s usually from new people, but it could also be from those who have been around for a while and seen a dip in the sales. Here are the most likely reasons why you’re not getting sales on Fiverr.

It’s the Time of Year

Certain times of year see lulls in ordering. December and January are usually quiet, along with June to September. However, that’s not to say the orders won’t be low at other periods of the year. You may notice a couple of weeks with back to back orders and then a couple of weeks of virtually nothing.

The Search Results Rotate

Something I’ve notice over the last few months is that the search results rotate. One minute I’m on the first page and then I’ll suddenly drop down. This coincides with my lull periods—if I’m lower down, I don’t get as many gig orders. There is very little you can do about your positioning in the search results. It is set like that on purpose to give everyone a chance.

Your Gig Title Isn’t Compelling

The first thing people see is your gig title. If you don’t have a compelling one or people can’t quite make out what you’re going to offer, they won’t bother clicking it to read more. You want a title that stands out and is clear from the beginning.

However, avoid too much detail in the title. That’s what your gig description is for.

Your Gig Description is Lacking

Another common reason is because your gig description lacks flare or information. If people don’t feel like they understand your gig or it doesn’t sell your services, they’re not going to click the order button.

Look over your gig description. I’ve written all about what your description needs to include right here.

You’re Spamming People and They’re Annoyed

Spamming is not going to get you sales. If you spam the Fiverr Forum, expect your posts to be removed or changed. If you spam people in messages, you’ll be reported and you could find your account restricted or removed. Yes, you want to get more sales, but you need to do it through your own white hat techniques, such as social media marketing.

You’re New to the Site

Unfortunately, it is harder for newer people to get sales on Fiverr. It’s because you haven’t built the reputation that you need for people to trust you. The hardest part is getting those sales with the good feedback, but once you have that it will be much easier. Make sure you market your gig and that your description is informative and clear.

You Have Too Many Cancellations/Negative Feedbacks

If you’ve been known for poor work, you may have gained some negative feedbacks along the way. You can decide to mutually cancel with the buyer to have those feedbacks removed, but it affects your cancellation rate. Once that gets to a certain point—I think 20%--it will show up on your gig page for buyers to see.

If you have too many of either, it’s going to affect your ability to get sales. Buyers don’t want to choose a seller who has a bad habit of cancelling, whatever the reason. At the same time, buyers will check your feedback and may be worried if you numerous poor comments. You will need to really work at pulling your cancellation ratio down and your feedback score up.

Are you struggling with your sales? Maybe I can help. I offer a gig that will look over your gig description, title and everything else to help improve your ranking and make your gig more compelling. You can buy it here.
