5 Types of Fiverr Gigs Writers Can Offer

Are you a writer wanting to start a Fiverr gig? Fiverr can be a good way to create a side business. You need to think carefully about the Fiverr gigs you’ll offer though. It’s easy to offer way too much compared to the price that you charge.

Things have changed a lot over the last couple of years on Fiverr. It’s not much easier to set up packages and get paid a fair rate with the set up. The difficulty is getting people to spend the money you deserve.

So, that’s why I’m here to offer some ideas for Fiverr gigs for writers. Here are five that will allow you to earn a good rate of return.

Offer Packages PLR Content

One popular type of gig on Fiverr is for PLR content. You can offer a package of 5-10 articles for $5-$10.

There are a few benefits to PLR gigs. The first is that the content is already written. All you have to do is send it off and your gig is completed within a couple of hours.

With the content being PLR, you can send the same sets of articles to multiple people. It’s up to you if you allow them to put their own bylines on the content or if you want your own. I suggest allowing them to add their own byline and give them the option to edit the content. That way you give them freedom and increase the chances of people buying your gig.

Make it clear just how many articles you have available. If you only have five, you won’t want people buying your Fiverr gigs a few times expecting multiple different articles or blog posts.

Creating a Writing Gig

PLR content can be hit and mix. My most popular Fiverr gig is my article and blog post gig. This is set up in a way to make it quick to write the content and keep the price worth my time.

I now offer 250-300 words of content for $5 and make sure that only the writing is needed. If people want images or keyword research, they will need to pay extra. I even stipulate that the title needs to be provided, as this can be a time-consuming part.

Watch out for the writing gigs. You will need to have a clear revision policy and stick to that. There are a few people who expect the world for just $5. I don’t have time for them!

Offer Editing/Proofreading Services with Your Fiverr Gigs

If you don’t want to write, you can offer to proofread or edit content. I’ve not found this type of gig as popular as others, but it doesn’t mean that it won’t work for you.

Editing is less time consuming than writing. However, many people won’t realize the differences between editing and proofreading. Make sure you share exactly what someone is getting in your Fiverr gig description.
You may want to prove what you can do. The best way is through a sample with some tracked changes.

Set Up a Gig for Rewriting

People don’t always want content freshly written. Some people will find content online that they want rewritten. This is my second most popular gig on the Fiverr site.

Set up some stipulations about the length of the content. I work with the original content length, rather than offering to reduce a 1,000 word piece into 300 words, for example. It makes it easier for the buyer to price.

This is a relatively quick gig, but you will need to make sure you’re good at rewriting. This isn’t about spinning but creating original content with a similar meaning.

Help Other Writers Get Started

This is something that I’m considering as a gig, on top of my Fiverr tips gig. I get a lot of new writers asking for tips and advice to get started. You could set up a gig specifically for them.

Bear in mind that most writers won’t want to spend money on getting advice. They want it all for free. The problem is that your time is valuable. I’m tempted just to set up a gig to send people to as a standard message to improve my response rate. It also gives others a call to action. Some will pay for the advice, knowing that it’s valuable and worth their money.

You will need to show why you’re worthwhile hiring for writing help. Give them a good reason to hire that gig.

Are you ready to set up Fiverr gigs for your writing? Keep them small and build your way up. There are so many ideas and the above five will just get you started.

What’s the Best Type of Fiverr Gig to Make Money?

Making money on Fiverr is a goal for many. There are some people who do it for fun—there was one guy in the forum a while back who would constantly gloat about how he had enough money and he was just doing his Fiverr gigs to “give back” to the world or something along those lines. Cocky, if you ask me.

Anyway, if you do want to make money, your Fiverr gig is (or gigs are) really important. You need to choose something that will sell and gives you a decent hourly wage.

So what is the best Fiverr gig to make money?

There’s not one in particular but here are some ideas.

Something that You’re Already Good At

You don’t want to spend hours researching or finding out how to do something. You want to offer something that you’re already good at doing.

I’ve seen gigs with a “I will help you” title and they promise to do anything—sorry but you’re not an expert at everything and you’re not going to be able to do everything within the space of 20-30 minutes or so.

You want something that you can deliver quickly but with quality. I offer 400 words for a general article because it takes me about 20 minutes to do. I do 100 words of sales copy for the first $5 because that gives me the extra time to research the product/service and promote it.

You Need to Enjoy Your Fiverr Gig to Make Money

Make it look like you’ve put a lot of effort in.

You can do that by enjoying your Fiverr gig. Don’t go in with just the idea to make money. You will hardly make anything if the quality and value isn’t there.

If it means extending delivery times, go for it. But make sure you really enjoy what you’re doing. You may experience burn out or just be tired of working now and then (everyone goes through it at some point) but it shouldn’t last forever.

When you Fiverr gig is no longer something you enjoy doing, it will show in your work and you will start to lose out on orders.

Offer Something Quick and Simple

Remember that it is only $5. You don’t want to offer hours of work for that $5; it’s just not worth it.

Offer something simple and quick to do. I don’t like anything that is going to take longer than 20 minutes for $5. If it seems to take longer, I will talk to the buyer about it and be honest. It needs to be worthwhile for me so I can focus on quality.

If you can, offer something that is already created. You can then just attach it and send. I used to offer an eBook on making money writing through the site but it wasn’t doing so great so removed the gig. But there are plenty of others who create gigs like this and make a lot of money.

It’s Not All About the Gig

Remember it’s not just your Fiverr gigs that help you make money on the site. You will also need to focus on excellent customer service and quality every time.

Some in the forum suggest to over-deliver but I have my own view on this. I’ll go over that at some point.

Without good customer service, responding to requests and marketing your Fiverr gigs, they’re not going to make you the money that you dream of.

If you want more tips on how to make money on Fiverr, don’t forget to buy my eBook. It’s available at Amazon at the moment, through these links below, and will be available through Smashwords and on other eReaders very soon.

10 Great Fiverr Gig Ideas to Make Money on Fiverr

Are you looking for gig ideas to make money on Fiverr?

While it’s important to have fun, you always want to make a profit right. My eBook How to Make Money on Fiverr offers a lot of tips about creating great Fiverr gigs. What it doesn’t cover is all the great Fiverr gig ideas.

Here are just 10 that will help you get your Fiverr business started.

1.       Offer review gigs: You need to watch out for the Terms of Service as you can’t infringe on 3rd party rights. I have a review gig and the best way around it is to make it clear that you offer an HONEST review. It’s also best to just send the review to the Fiverr buyer to post.

2.       Proofreading: If you have good English (or your own language) skills, why not offer to proofread for others? This is hard to get into at the moment since there are so many—and it’s difficult to prove that you’re good. Take some time to market your skills. Once you get the first sale, it will be much easier to gain more.

3.       Hand out flyers in your own area: People love to use Fiverr for cheap marketing, so offer what they want. One of the best selling Fiverr gig ideas is handing out flyers in your local area. Make it clear how many you will print off and hand out and take photos to show that you’ve completed it.

4.       Do something seasonal: Think of Fiverr gigs for the season. Halloween is coming up so you could do something for that. Christmas gigs, Easter offerings and other great ideas are fun. They’re a novelty but you will find that they don’t do well other times of the year.

5.       Do some craft work to sell: Selling your own craft work is popular on Fiverr. Maybe you make your own Christmas stockings or you may create your own jewellery. Make sure it is worth your time and effort for the $5!

6.       Create a video for others: Video gigs are extremely popular on Fiverr—with many of the Top Rated Sellers offering these. People may want testimonials or advertisements. Make it clear what you can and cannot do for the Fiverr buyers.

7.       Write a blog post: Do what I do and offer to write a blog post. Consider how fast you type and how many words you can offer to make the $5 worthwhile. Remember to consider research and proofing within that.

8.       Create mini-tutorials: People struggle to do the easiest (well, what seems like you as easy)things. It could be to use Microsoft Excel or how to sync their phone and computer together. Create mini-tutorials for them.

9.       Create a plan or eBook: Create a product once and then sell it. You could create a diet plan that works for you or write an eBook in a subject that you’re an expert in. These are great for making money since the product is created beforehand. You just need to upload and sell!

10.   Sing a Song: If you have a good voice, offer to sing a song. It could be happy birthday or something that the buyer asks for.

Those are just 10 Fiverr gig ideas to make money on Fiverr. There are many many more! Get your brain into gear and start thinking about what you can sell!
